Position Overview
We are seeking a talented and motivated Sous Chef to join our team. As Sous Chef, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our kitchen, assisting the Head Chef in all aspects of food preparation, service, and team management.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of all menu items.
- Ensure all dishes meet recipe standards, portion guidelines, and quality expectations
Leadership & Team Support
- Supervise kitchen staff during service and maintain effective workflow and communication.
- Train, mentor, and support team members in techniques, routines, and safety practices.
- Lead the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.
Quality & Safety
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety (HACCP).
- Oversee correct storage, labelling, and rotation of ingredients.
- Ensure equipment is functional and report any maintenance needs.
Operational Efficiency
- Assist with inventory control, ordering, and cost management.
- Support scheduling and staffing decisions when required.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in a steakhouse or grill-focused environment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining consistency and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices.
- Culinary degree or equivalent training preferred, but not required.
